Jasmine (Prolonged Menstruation)

This is the chart of a woman diagnosed with menorrhagia – or excessive bleeding during menstruation.

Venus Rising

When a planet is rising within a chart, especially if the planet is conjunct the Ascendant, it signifies that the parts of the body that correspond with the planet are likely to be highlighted within the life of the native. Venus rising is often a feature within the charts of women who have reproductive health concerns. While this is not the only factor associated with this group of medical conditions, it is one that is relatively common.

Moon semisquare Mars

This is one of the astrological constants for prolonged menstruation and severe menstrual pain. Very often, women with Moon/Mars describe experiencing unbearable ongoing pain in their uterus – as if a knife was being dragged horizontally across their abdomen. Many women with this condition report that, although this pain is a daily experience, it worsens during menstruation.

Moon square Pluto

While the Moon typically signifies the stomach in particular and the digestive system in general, there are certain planetary combinations in which she seems to directly indicate issues within the female reproductive system. One of these combinations is Moon/Pluto. This combination denotes womb trauma. It also indicates other concerns that cause the native to feel as if she is being taken to the “underworld” as a result of excessive pain or bleeding, or abnormal functioning of the reproductive system. This is a combination that is often found within the charts of women with endometriosis.

Mercury in Scorpio conjunct Pluto

This combination is not one of my primary astrological constants for menstrual irregularities. However, it is one that sometimes shows up within the charts of women with reproductive health issues. I discovered this while studying the effect that Mercury/Saturn has within the charts of women who are infertile. Mercury signifies small children, and Saturn signifies blockage or denial. Thus, Mercury/Saturn is often an accompanying combination in the charts of women who experience a “denial” of children in this lifetime. Similarly, Pluto represents forms of trauma, pain and denial that seem divinely mandated. Mercury/Pluto, therefore, sometimes manifests within the charts of women who have a traumatic history relating to their reproductive functioning and their ability to conceive. Scorpio corresponds with the reproductive organs. Mercury in Scorpio stands as a proxy for all the parts of the body that correspond with that sign. Mercury in Scor- pio afflicted by Pluto can therefore signify trauma, pain, or abnormal functioning within the reproductive system of the native.

Moon parallel Chiron

Based on my research, I am inclined to the conclusion that this combination has nothing at all to do with the female reproductive system. However, I am noting it because the Moon does rule the womb, and Chiron does signify an unhealable wound. Therefore, this combination – along with its normal delineation of chronic digestive health concerns – may also indicate some chronic health condition of the womb, however tangential that association may be.

Mars parallel Pluto

Mars corresponds with wounds and bleeding. Pluto corresponds with anything that is excessive or abnormal. Therefore, this combination can signify excessive bleeding within the body of the native.

Saturn (l5) conjunct Neptune

The fifth house and its ruler often indicate a woman’s womb and fertility potential in this lifetime. Neptune signifies a constant drain on one’s vitality and health. Therefore, from a traditional perspective, this could signify that this woman’s womb is a constant drain on her vitality and health.

Saturn (l5) conjunct Uranus

Saturn is in an out-of-sign conjunction with Uranus. With Saturn being the ruler of the fifth house, this could signify instability of this woman’s reproductive functions. It also specifically indicates that the topic of reproduction, and of children in general, will be a major source of anxiety within her life.

Mars square Saturn (l5)

Mars signifies wounds and bloodshed. Thus, Mars square the ruler of the fifth house could indicate injury or wounding to the womb of the native. It can also indicate that the native’s womb will be a constant source of pain and violence within her body.
