Professional Astrologer’s Diploma Program
The Oraculos School of Astrology was founded with one purpose in mind: to contribute to both the astrological community and the world at large, a generation of excellent, well trained, and versatile astrologers; prepared to serve the needs of the world of tomorrow. We do this through providing an in-depth education in neo-classical astrology through both our Professional and Medical Astrologer’s Diploma Programs.
First Year Certification Program
Who is this course for?
This course is for anyone who has a burning desire to become an excellent professional astrologer. Previous study of astrology is not necessary. All foundations in our Foundations of Classical Astrology (FOCA) program as structured in Mastering Traditional Astrology: A Depth of Beginning in the Celestial Art. This program is also great for practitioners within the consultancy, healing, or counselling fields who are looking to integrate astrology into their profession.
What subjects will you study?
The first year of our Professional Astrologer’s Diploma program was designed to cover all areas of natal-based astrological practice. This provides students with a strong foundation for exploring advanced predictive astrology techniques in Year Two of our program. In Year One, students will learn:
- Foundations of Classical Astrology
- Horary Astrology
- Concrete, Event-Based Natal Astrology
- Financial & Vocational Astrology
- Foundations of Medical Astrology
- Holistic Astrological Counselling Skills
- Synastry, Compatibility, & Working with Couples
What happens next?
Many of our students pursue the first year of OSA studies in order to apply astrological principles to their lives, even if they have no desire to enter professional practice. Upon completing PCA-1, students will have all the skills they need in order to share astrology with their friends and family, and provide an in-depth natal assessment of the charts of potential clients.
These skills are only further deepened through developing advanced delineation techniques and holistic counselling approaches in PCA-2, which is then taken into simultaneously working with multiple clients in PCA-3. At the end of Year One, successful graduates are encouraged to pursue our comprehensive predictive astrology program in Year Two.
Practice of Concrete Astrology Program Outline
Foundations of Classical Astrology (FOCA)
No Prerequisites
This course is the cornerstone of everything we teach at OSA. Students will receive a thorough introduction to the structure and technical framework of traditional astrology following the model laid out in Mastering Traditional Astrology: A Depth of Beginning in the Celestial Art. Students will develop critical thinking skills in terms of astrological chart analysis and will apply these skills in horary astrology practice. They will learn directly from Mychal A. Bryan and will be supported in their studies by senior students who he has selected in order to further deepen their understand of the Oraculos syllabus and method of chart delineation.
Concepts that are covered in this course include:
- Understanding the philosophical framework upon which traditional astrology is built.
- Learn how the qualities, elements, planets, signs, aspects, and houses used in traditional astrology all organically arise out of a systematic approach to the cosmos as laid out by the ancients.
- Gain a clear understanding of the astronomical principles upon which traditional Western tropical astrology is built.
- Develop the technical skills necessary for accurate chart delineation within traditional astrology through horary astrology practice.
- Discover the scope of their practice as astrologers – what is within their domain of possibilities and what are not.
PCA-1: Practice of Concrete Natal Astrology
Building upon the firm foundation of FOCA, this program provides students with a systematic framework of Natal Horoscopy rooted within the Medieval and Renaissance periods. This program explores one of the chief quandaries within the mind of the budding Astrologer: where does one begin reading a natal chart? Students will be given a step-by-step rubric for natal chart delineation, through which they will be able to make their confident initial steps in concrete natal Astrology delineation.
Objective for this course include:
- Determining the psychological constitution of a person through applying traditional approaches to psychological astrology.
- Learn how to assess the financial welfare of a person throughout the various phases of life.
- Domestic astrology – learning how to assess the family dynamics between the native, their siblings, and parents from the natal chart.
- Identify the destiny of a person in relation to love, romance, and marriage within their lifetime.
- Assess the natural strengths and weaknesses of the native and how they can be directed towards finding career success and fulfillment within this lifetime.
PCA-2: Advanced Natal Astrology & Holistic Counselling Skills
Prerequisite: PCA-1
Collectively, FOCA, PCA-1, and PCA-2 are the prerequisite courses for enrollment in our Medical Astrology Diploma Program.
After successful completion of PCA-1, students move into deepening their natal delineation skills as well as exploring the nuances of working with live clients. This course was born out of the desire of OSA students to integrate greater counselling tools within their astrological practice. Within this program, we explore these tools as well as introduce foundational principles of medical astrology that students can apply within every client consultation.
At this level of study, students will also have multiple opportunities to present individual chart readings and be provided individualized feedback regarding their approach, style, and delineation
Within this course, students will learn:
- Advanced planet-based natal astrology delineation methods for identifying and predicting concrete events.
- How to conduct a constitutional wellbeing assessment for clients.
- Tools for building a client session in an efficient, focused, and respectful way.
- Advanced planet-based psychological assessment techniques.
- Methods for identifying constitutional and humoural imbalances and how they manifest within the psyche and physiological health.
- How over 78 “morbificant combinations” of planets can manifest within the wider sociological life of the client.
- Three distinct systems for giving an astrological consultation.
- Tools for both short-term client coaching and long-term client counselling.
PCA-3: Synastry, Compatibility, & Working with Couples
Prerequisite: PCA-2
Synastry is the astrological practice of determining the compatibility and relationship dynamics between two people. Building upon their advanced skills, students will now begin interpreting two charts, instead of one. Students will learn how to quickly spot the strengths and weaknesses that exist between couples. They will also gain skills for helping others skillfully navigate the relationship dynamics they face with their partners.
Students will obtain:
- Deepened understanding of how to navigate the dynamics of client work.
- Learn how to read a chart specifically for identifying the love language of a person, and determine whether it synchronizes harmoniously with the love expression or style of their partner.
- Learn how to conduct an astrological synastry consultation for a couple.
- Explore the composite chart as a method of judging compatibility as well as potential challenges between partners.
Second Year Diploma Program
Who is this course for?
The second year of the Professional Astrologer’s Diploma Program builds upon the foundation laid by PCA-1. Students will deepen their current chart interpretation skills, and receive in-depth training in predictive astrology.
What subjects will you study?
Year Two of our Professional Astrologer’s Diploma Program was created to provide advanced students with a full suite of predictive astrology techniques. This level of study entails understanding how to help clients prepare for the future using monthly and annual predictive practices. Students will explore these techniques through their own research as well as in-class live demonstrations with actual clients. The main topics covered within this year include:
- Revolutional Astrology (Solar, Lunar, Embolismic Lunations)
- Directional Astrology (Secondary, Solar Arc Directions)
- Natal-Based Mundane Predictions (Transits, Eclipses)
What happens next?
Upon successful graduation from the PCA-2 program, students will be awarded our OSA Professional Astrologer’s Diploma. This award is commensurate with the years the students have invested into mastering the various skills covered in the OSA syllabus.
Our students go on to start their own professional practice. Students also go into teaching, lecturing at conferences, starting their own podcasts, research, and a variety of other endeavours based on their interests and astrological ability. Selected students are given the opportunity to become a consulting astrology for OSA as well. Selected students also have the opportunity to become a member of the OSA teaching faculty. The decision to hire a consulting astrologer or a faculty member at OSA is fully under the discretion of Mychal A. Bryan. This is based on the student’s work ethic, professionalism, mastery of the OSA syllabus, and ability to demonstrate concrete, event-based astrology based on the OSA syllabus.
Advanced Practice of Concrete Astrology Program Outline
APCA-1: Practice of Concrete Prediction I (Revolutional Astrology)
Students at this level are now advanced practitioners of natal delineation and are ready to begin the art of concrete prediction. In this semester, we begin our journey into a suite of classical and neo-classical predictive techniques so that practitioners can aid their clients in best planning for the future. In this semester, students will begin exploring the most standard forms of revolutional charts used in traditional astrology: solar and lunar returns. They will also explore advanced techniques based on these revolutional charts so that they have multiple ways of testing their predictions. At the end of this semester, students will confidently be able to practice a high level of predictive astrology based on these auxiliary charts.In this course, students advance their natal skills by interpreting predictive revolutional charts. Students learn a clear and systematic rubric for making accurate concrete predictions, and how to extend their natal skills by finding the evidence of the natal promise within a predictive chart.
Students learn:
- How to accurately analyze all forms of revolutional charts.
- Different ideas regarding the scope and period of time covered by a Solar Return chart.
- The philosophy and practice of using converse (or reverse) timing within both their solar and lunar revolutional predictions.
- How to use both the lunar return and the 12th harmonic solar return as a means of predicting monthly events.
- Which transits will impact the native throughout the entire solar return year.
- How to use eclipses within their predictive astrology practice.
- How to find and utilize the Embolismic Lunation chart as an annual predictive tool.
Which parts of the natal promise become most active at the time of Saturn’s return to its natal position.
APCA-2: Practice of Concrete Prediction II (Directional Astrology)
After developing their predictive skills through chart-based methods of prediction, students now begin exploring more advanced arc-based methods of prediction. These include secondary directions/progressions and solar arc directions. Students also learn how to utilize the contributions of predictive Uranian Astrology and Cosmobiology as a means of predicting concrete events.
Students will learn:
- How to identify active planetary directions in traditional astrology and with a midpoint listing.
- How to explore all of their chart-based predictive skills on the midpoint listing.
- How to utilize the midpoint listing to investigate and corroborate everything they can learn about an individual from a traditional delineation of the natal chart.
- How to narrow down the exact day when a combination will become active.
- How to use the graphic ephemeris for transits and directions.
